Here are just a few of the comment letters I have received . . .

What a wonderful experience! My Girl Scout troop had Kevin come and do a workshop on the creative writing process. I don't know what was more enjoyable- watching their faces ( with their eyes closed) imagining the "twist" Kevin had just given to the story he was telling or the realization that the writing process can be done by anyone.

Fantastic! (Yes this is a paragraph- Mr. Franz said if I am the author, I can make a paragraph anyway I want!) The parents from my troop have commented on how excited their girls were when they got home. The workshop was enjoyed by young and old.

Thank you for a great Girl Scout Meeting!

Kevin,

I would like to thank you again for speaking to the students of South Milwaukee. Your lively, fact filled introduction to writing has encouraged many of the children to write stories. Your presentation is very clear with vivid images and interesting details. Your presentation is well planned and age appropriate. All of the children were engaged as you told the story.

Thanks again! We can't wait for the next book. Please keep us on the mailing list. Also, we look forward to having you speak again to the students. I will invite the fifth graders at all of the schools this time. They would really benefit from your writing tips and hints.

Sincerely,

Deb Semrad

Dear Kevin,

On behalf of the students and stall of Lincoln Elementary School, THANK YOU so much for visiting our school. I've heard only positive comments - I know you have inspired our students to use their creativity and write!

We can't wait to read about Princess Lisa and Princess Rachel's Underwater Adventure!

Thanks again,

Dear Mr. Franz,

Thank you so much for taking the time to talk to our students. Your experience and stories help the students more than you know.

I know you have inspired them to become even better writers!

Thank you again,

Dear Kevin Franz,

Thank you so much for your author visit. The second thru fourth grade students at Rawson School have really enjoyed your first book. Your writing is enrapturing; you really take the students to the hidden lands.

You are a wonderful storyteller - the students could recite them word-for-word.

The simple guidelines that you gave the students to write their own stories were fantastic! I cannot tell you how many students told me that they are going to write their own stories and that they are going to use your tips.

Keep writing; you have many faithful readers at Rawson School waiting for your next masterpiece!

Dear Mr. Franz,

I would like to add my personal thanks for your presentation to our students. All of us enjoyed it very much.

I think you simplified writing process is very accessible to elementary students, and, as I am the Middle School librarian, as well, I will also be recommending it to them.

I look forward to your continued success and a long list of publications.

Yours Very Truly,

Mary Bandor
Librarian

Dear Mr. Franz,

I am a second grade teacher at Lakeview and I just wanted to thank you for your visit. We are using your tips for writing stories in our classroom.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Zdero

Mr. Franz,

Thank you for coming to Rawson Elementary. We liked learning about how to write books. Maybe one of us will become an author or illustrator, too.

Thank you for letting us order your book and get it autographed by you. We look forward to your next book.

We hope you will come back again soon.

Sincerely,

The Second Grade Writers of Rawson Elementary
